Hello beautiful human,
Yesterday I drove past miles of corn. Miles and miles of corn. A single crop. Planted in rows and rows and rows. Rows and rows, fields and fields of corn. Corn. Corn. More corn.
Today on my way to work I’ll walk past lawns and lawns of grass. No clover, no dandelions, no violets.
It’s a mindset that decides a monocrop is preferable. That weedkillers and pesticides are acceptable ways to control what must be the waywardness of the natural world.
I’m a storyteller, and so I think back to that story of Adam and Eve, first humans, in their original garden. What do you suppose that garden might have looked like? That first nestled bed of creation before Roundup, before trucks rolled up to spray for mosquitos?
What were we tasked with, and how are we doing?
Is it possible we misunderstood the assignment?

That leads to our Monday Mission Possible this week:
The monocrop places
Where are the monocrop places in your day to day life? The rows and ruts of thinking, behavior? Where are you bored? Where are you exhausted and spent? What if we could discover one small violet, poking its way up through the caked dirt to deliver a gift? One small frog singing a different song? How could you nurture that possibility today?
Monday Mission: Possible. But if you want the theme music from that other kind of mission to inspire you, here you go.
Don’t be afraid to go beyond the original Mission Possible. Follow your inclinations and inspirations and see what arises… Let the week take you playfully where it will, if you will.
Today’s invitation: If you don’t love my Mission Possible above, if you don’t feel inspired by it, there’s always the option to invent another one for yourself. Find some small step or act here at the start of the week that can take you just slightly outside of your usual rounds and routines. Follow your nose out into the day and through the hours and keep awake for the assignment. It might surpise you.

Your attention and time are the true gifts. Thank you. xoS
