Hello beautiful human,
Following yesterday, I’m still thinking about all the ways we tend to divide ourselves into “us” and “them.” All the lines we draw, then pay so much attention to. Gender, race, religion, economic and educational class, political party, sports team affiliation, preferred musical genre…some of them start to seem kind of trivial and silly but from some perspective way way out there maybe all of them could be seen as mostly made up. We’re puny little animals, carbon-based organisms that scramble around on the surface of a vast and generous planet. At some level we’re each just a conglomerate of tiny combustions happening at a cellular level, a concert of infinitesimal fire. Do our surface differences really matter that much? Do we even know enough to accurately describe what our differences really are?
