Three kinds of listening I practice in my listening circles (and the last day to register for this one)
small brave thing #238
Hello beautiful human,
What does it mean, to listen?
How does it feel?
We find ourselves in a noisy moment. Noise is not necessarily bad (have you seen the pictures and the reports from the No Kings protests on Saturday? Were you there? Inspiring! Have you watched the Led Zeppelin documentary? I felt thrills. Have you ever participated in a primal scream? Cathartic.)
Noise can be good and healthy and it can be overwhelming. For me right now, I feel a little—some days a lot—overwhelmed. What about you?
A listening circle is an island. An oasis.
If you’ve only come into this Space in the last year or two, you might not know this about me, but I’ve held hundreds of circles, workshops, classes and retreats, both online and in person. I do this work because I know, as my Qoya teachers taught me, that wisdom comes through the collective. Whatever our goals, dreams and visions, we can’t get there from here on our own, in isolation.
Underneath all the noise, something else awaits and wants to emerge.
And so we circle. There are lots of ways a listening circle can unfold and different practices it can contain. My circle will help us find time and space for three invitations:
to listen to the message(s) the natural, more-than-human world might have for us,
to listen to each other, wherever the moment finds us, and
to listen to (and for) ourselves and the new stories that wait, curled, within.
My intention is to hold, in this solstice window, a gentle space of invitation and slowness, to invite each of us to discover what treasure awaits us in the present moment.
It feels like good medicine. I hope you’ll join me.
Listening for New Stories
a listening circle held by Sarah Sadie of An Inviting Space
Experience the slowing of time with me in an online listening circle through Zoom. Scheduled for June 18, right at the brink of solstice, we’ll make time together to listen to the messages and gifts of nature, to each other, and to ourselves, to begin to hear new stories and next steps. There will be time for participant reflection, discussion and sharing in this experiential circle.
Wednesday, June 18
3 PM UK/10 AM Eastern/9 AM Central/7 AM Pacific
or
11 PM UK/ 6 PM Eastern/5 PM Central/3 PM Pacific
It’s important we take care of ourselves and each other. I know we don’t always have energy for online offerings. Cameras optional, always. Bring your favorite beverage, pillows, pens, anything that will help you feel comfortable and nourished. And don’t forget something to write, sketch and make marks on and with.

Scheduled at two times across the day, please feel free to register for one or both. Share the registration links above with a friend, your sister, your circle. We’ll have opportunity to listen to each other, to the more-than-human natural world, and to ourselves as we lean in to the possibility of recovering and remembering new stories and potential next steps. This is a free offering. Registration required.
I hope to do this again in the coming months but, as I pivot this Space gently through the summer, future offerings likely won’t be free. This is an opportunity as fleeting as that sighting of an egret, above.
I know it’s tempting to pass by and tell yourself, Oh yeah I’ll sign up later but trust me, just do it now while you’re thinking about it. It’s happening tomorrow after all. What are the chances you’ll remember later today? Links above.

I believe our world needs new stories. what if those stories lie curled within us like seeds? This is An Inviting Space to experience where and how we might discover, recover and nurture the secret, magical gardens of soul day by day. Starting where we are, as we are.
Your support is welcome, and your attention and time are true gifts. Thank you.
That sounds so needed. I can't make it tonight but definitely interested if you host future ones. Thank you for your work, your words.
